Revisited the Thunderbird restaurant after an absence and found the food and service is excellent as usual. Located at the intersection of I95 and Hwy 52 with easy entrance and exit if you like country cooking at a good price you should love the buffet here. They accept cash and credit cards with free parking including handicapped accessible.
Not a very good selection of items on the buffet. A homey type of feel. The staff is very friendly.
The restaurant is inside the hotel. It's a popular spot for the locals. Good home style southern cooked food, friendly staff and reasonably priced buffet. A reflection of what Florence was like 30+ years ago. Enjoy.
I went to the Thunderbird restaurant about an hour before they closed. The food was good, no complaints there. Just wish they had more vegetable options. The beans had bacon all in them, so there was only green beans and cabbage as a veggie for us. They also have a decent salad bar. (We don't eat pork or beef.) They had pretty good fried chicken and baked macaroni, which are two of our favorites. They have a great selection of pies, cakes, and ice cream as dessert as well. Only minor issue was our waitress. She didn't come by to refill drinks or take away plates more than once. But she kept walking around seemingly talking to herself, which was awkward but harmless. I would return at a different time of day next time I go.
It's a quaint little bar and they have a decent menu and kitchen... Although the kitchen closes at 9 and the bar closes at 10:30.
